It has adhered to an auto-burn formula since late 2021, as we <a rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/binance-introduces-bnb-auto-burn-mechanism-conducts-17th-and-last-quarterly-burn-of-1-3m-tokens\/\">reported<\/a> at the time, which provides an independently auditable and objective process, boosting accountability and transparency. Last quarter, the ecosystem <a rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bnbchain.org\/en\/blog\/27th-bnb-burn\">burned<\/a> 1.9 million tokens, worth $1.17 billion at the time. The corresponding BNB amount will be sent to the\u00a0<strong>&#8220;blackhole&#8221; address<\/strong>: 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Foundation also gave an update on its real-time burning mechanism which it bases on the gas fees. Validators on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) determine the ratio of gas fees imposed on each block, which is then burned at a predetermined rate. This mechanism was introduced through proposal BEP95, which took effect in October 2021. Since then, it has led to the burning of 234,000 BNB tokens, worth $138 million.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the burns is to decrease the circulating supply, consequently creating scarcity and propping up the price. Several other ecosystems have similar practices, such as Shiba Inu whose burns, as we&#8217;ve <a rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/shiba-inu-burns-soar-300-will-shib-kill-another-zero\/\">reported<\/a>, have been <a rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/shiba-inu-burn-rate-soars-400-increase-in-a-week\/\">surging<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>BNB Price Struggles<\/h3>\n<p>BNB trades at $591, losing <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">1.3%<\/span> in the past day for an $86.38 billion market cap, the fourth-largest in the market ahead of Solana, although SOL has closed the gap to less than $3 billion with a <span style=\"color: #008000;\">17%<\/span> surge in the past week.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cryptoboxes\" id=\"mcw-435407\" data-realtime=\"on\">\n<div class=\"mcw-chart mcw-chart-light\" data-font = \"inherit\" data-coin = \"bnb\" data-symbol = \"BNB\" data-currency = \"USD\" data-rate = \"1.000268\" data-type = \"chart\" data-view = \"day\" data-theme = \"light\" data-smooth = \"true\" data-areacolor = \"\" data-bgcolor = \"\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The burn seemed to elicit excitement from traders, with the trading volume surging 32% to cross over the $2 billion mark.
