In the past few days, <a rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BSCNheadlines\/status\/1910179670328328587\">its value has suddenly plummeted<\/a> from $1 to around $0.85. Most DeFi users are wondering what\u2019s behind this drop? In the stablecoin world, losing that much peg is no small feat\u2014like digital change, sUSD should always be close to $1. But in reality, at the time of writing, it\u2019s still down 6.51%.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this isn\u2019t without reason. Synthetix founder Kain Warwick explained that the drop in sUSD\u2019s value has something to do with a system update.<\/p>\n<p>The protocol is preparing to move to a new version\u2014called V3\u2014that completely changes the way its debt management works. The old version, which had been keeping sUSD stable, was deactivated as part of this transition. Well, during that transition, the price of sUSD became unstable.<\/p>\n<blockquote hcb-fetch-image-from=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BSCNheadlines\/status\/1910179670328328587\" class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/15.0.3\/72x72\/1f6a8.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\udea8\" class=\"wp-smiley\" style=\"height: 1em; max-height: 1em;\" \/>JUST IN: SYNTHETIX PROTOCOL&#39;S SYNTHETIC USD, SUSD, DEPEGS TO $0.85<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; BSCN Headlines (@BSCNheadlines) <a rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BSCNheadlines\/status\/1910179670328328587?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 10, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async data-type=\"lazy\" data-src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2><strong>sUSD Still Backed by Real Assets<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>While this may have caused some concern, Warwick is quick to stress one important thing: sUSD is not an algorithmic <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a style=\"color: #008000;\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/bnb-chain-adds-jusd-stablecoin-backed-by-money-market-assets\/\">stablecoin<\/a><\/span> with no collateral. It\u2019s not UST 2.0. It\u2019s still backed by assets like <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a style=\"color: #008000;\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/ethereum-eth-price-to-reach-7000-why-experts-are-predicting-a-new-ath\/\">ETH<\/a><\/span> and SNX, and it still has value behind it.<\/p>\n<p>The only problem is that the price balancing mechanism is temporarily off. So it\u2019s more like a car that had its engine replaced in the middle of the highway\u2014a bit wobbly, but not necessarily going to crash.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Synthetix is \u200b\u200bnot sitting idle either. They are trying various ways to restore sUSD\u2019s liquidity and price balance, including through a new incentive program. Starting April 10, 2025, the reward program on the Infinex platform has been extended for six weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Users who deposit sUSD can get a share of 16,000 OP tokens every week, plus the chance to win other on-chain prizes. The hope is that more users will be interested in jumping in, so that demand for sUSD will increase again and its value will get back on track.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Synthetix Accounts Aim for Simpler Access<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you look at it, Synthetix has been really busy lately. Last January, they announced that they would stop the V3 perps market on <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a style=\"color: #008000;\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.crypto-news-flash.com\/arbitrum-one-on-chain-activity-jumps-40-in-2025\/\">Arbitrum<\/a><\/span> and move their full focus to the Base network. The reason was to simplify development and make the system more efficient.<\/p>\n<p>Not stopping there, on April 8th, they also launched a new feature called &#8220;Synthetix Accounts.&#8221; This is a smart wallet that they say can allow users to trade perps on-chain without gas fees and without the need for transaction confirmation.<\/p>\n<p>You can register using just an email or Google account. It&#8217;s simple, but you could say it&#8217;s quite bold, considering the crypto culture which is usually anti-email and anti-centralization. But yeah, who knows, this might be what makes new users want to try.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>SNX Holds Steady Amid sUSD Woes<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Although sUSD slipped, Synthetix&#8217;s main token, SNX, actually rose slightly. At the time of writing, the token is swapped hands at about <strong>$0.6313<\/strong>, up <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>4.59%<\/strong><\/span> over the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>This increase has pushed SNX\u2019s market cap to surpass the $214 million mark.
